Born in Greece, Sofia Karvela was named after a real estate broker who made a real estate referral in her honor. She is described as being the “little sister” of the Karvela family. Heightened awareness of fashion, ethnicity, language and culture is what drives her passion. Sofia Karvela is a British citizen and wears dual citizenship. She is an active participant in Greek and Russian Culture and is well known throughout the world for her high standards of beauty, intelligence, scholarship and success.

Designer, Costume Designer, Entrepreneur, Social Butterfly & Nationality Conscious: born to the creatively empowered Greek Nationality, Sofia Karvela combines her love of creativity with her love of nationality to create a uniquely modern and cultural approach to dressing. As a youngster, Sofia Karvela was inspired by her grandmother who encouraged her to explore her own identity through her creativity and design while attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in London. It was there that she came to understand that beauty could not be measured in terms of physical attributes or wealth or position. Sofia Karvela’s greatest joy in life is discovering the joys of being a creator and thinker and how they relate to each other’s humanity. For her, designing has always been a way of sharing and expressing who she is.

In this light, Sofia Karvela’s clothing and art have always promoted and encouraged young people to pursue their artistic passions by supporting projects aimed at creating more equal and accessible spaces for artists and cultural creators. As a stylist, Sofia Karvela collaborates with fashion designer Manolo Blahnik, an Indian-Swiss designer, and former member of the Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (IIT Delhi). Manolo and Sofia work together to conceptualize new collections for the spring season, as well as helping Karvela launch her first art exhibition in her native Greece. The mission of the creatively empowered Karvela is simple: provide young women and girls in underserved communities access to high quality education, employable jobs and the financial resources necessary for building a vibrant and supportive community around them.
