Ashley Atkins, otherwise known as ‘The Queen of Britain’ is an actress and voice over artist that have appeared in some high profile films and voice overs. But her real talent lies in the field of acting where she has not only won numerous awards for her roles but also been nominated multiple times for such honors. Her most recognized role being in the film ‘A Few Good Men’ where she played the unforgettable role of the manipulative girlfriend of a wealthy oil executive, John Paul Mitchell. She went on to play other important and famous characters in the series ‘The Queen’ as well as the TV movie ‘The Ten Commandments’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’.

Recently, Ms. Bacon has decided to take part in the television series ‘The Queen’ again playing the character of Queen Elizabeth II who is the current Queen of England. It is interesting to note that this new role in a popular TV series will place her at almost the same height as the original ‘The Queen’ whilst concurrently setting her apart from her classmates who all seem to be at least a couple of inches shorter than her in real life. So why does Ms. Bacon choose to play such a physically deformed character as Queen Elizabeth in an art film when she could easily be playing the daughter of a king or her trusted advisor, The Prime Minister?

One possible answer could be that Ashley has chosen her profession as an actress to allow her to achieve certain things that could have been beyond her while playing the parts of the historical figures that she is. For instance, being cast as the ‘Queen’ requires almost acting skills in addition to a real understanding of royal etiquette and protocol. While this may sound like a tall order for an actress of Ashley’s stature, it could very well be one of the most fulfilling and meaningful roles she ever chooses to play. Being associated with the Royal Family for such a small role is an honour that few actors are able to enjoy and one that any fan of ‘The Queen’ would feel entitled to.
