Aida Martin was an actor before becoming a model. In her early twenties she appeared in some films, but didn’t like the kind of roles that were usually associated with young starlets. After a near-death experience she decided she would like to be an actress but didn’t want to do it as a character actress, so she changed her name to Aida Martin, changed her profession to showbiz and began appearing in print ads and in magazines, mainly playing glamorous older women in love stories. She has appeared in a few movies since then, most notably as herself in the movie “Sweeney Todd” and as a supporting character in the TV series “ameless” (for which she received an Oscar nomination).
Aida’s life has been very interesting, to say the least, since she met her husband in college. They married in spite of their Nationality, and while Nationality is not mentioned in the movie at all, it is clear from other media that Martin is of Spanish and Irish descent. They have a son, but that does not stop them from spending every chance they can in other countries, going to Spain, Italy, wherever else, for vacation, whether they are in danger of a speeding ticket or not. Martin is open about her personal life in terms of her height, her nationality and her religion, being raised by her mother as a Catholic in the Catholic Church, but she seems to have chosen to live an incredibly fulfilled life, to live and be happy in a committed relationship with her husband.
Height is a personal issue for Aida Martin, even as she lives and works in the US. “I have never really thought about it too much because I am American,” she says. “I am just naturally pretty tall. People who are taller than me don’t seem to have that problem. And maybe I’m just a lucky girl, but I think height is just a part of who I am. I am what I am.”
