Maria Trolle is an award-winning illustrator and graphic designer living in Tyreso, near Stockholm. Her love for gardening acts like a strong thread to her artwork, with colorful vegetables, pants, and flowers providing inspirational daily inspiration-usually from her garden. Each work of Maria Trolle’s is a masterpiece in the making, as each one combines elements of color and form expertly.

Maria Trolle was born in a small town in Sweden where she was destined to become an artist. She studied art at the Royal Academy in Stockholm, but when it was time for her to start applying for jobs she had trouble finding one because most of the select artists she so desperately wanted to work with were only working within the Catholic Church. She decided to look into tattooing because she loved the freedom and confidentiality that it offered and after she got her license, things started falling into place.

After a few years of fine art training she moved to her first real job as a magazine illustrator, but when her magazine publisher felt that her style wasn’t cutting it anymore she pursued her career in painting, photography, and fashion design. Her artwork hung in the closet instead of on display. Maria Trolle now spends her days looking for her new designs-she has a handful she really wants to show, but she knows she will always find them in her house. Maria Trolle continues to work hard at the profession she loves while enjoying the perks of a very rewarding career. “I have my own business and I’m very happy with that,” she says.
