Mr. Paola Penzo is the Director of National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and is currently under investigation for sexual harassment. The investigation stemmed from a complaint filed by one of the attorneys who works with Penzo, against his colleague, Ms. Valentino. Ms. Penzo allegedly asked Ms. Valentino if she would like to try some height-enhancement pills, when in reality, he offered her the chance to go on an increasing height spree, as long as he would fund her trips to Italy, Spain, and London. Ms. Penzo then allegedly continued to ask Ms. Penzo about her height and whether or not she had any other health problems.
When contacted by the NALA investigators, Penzo denied that he had height-enhancement pills. He maintained that he had met Ms. Valentino in an earlier context and exchanged business cards. However, he admitted that he did have a relationship with Ms. Penzo and that he had been trying to increase her height by at least one inch. According to witnesses quoted in the NALA press release, Penzo claimed that he had offered Ms. Penzo the chance to go to Italy or Spain on a business trip, and that he paid for her trip and booked her hotel room. In her statement to the press, Ms. Penzo stated that she had accepted Penzo’s invitation because she was curious about his intentions towards her, but that she felt betrayed because he did not offer any explanation for his actions.
Penzo has also been linked to the questionable world of height-boosting supplements and potions. In 2021, Penzo reportedly posted on his personal blog about an advertisement for a product he claims can increase someone’s height by three inches. The website also included photos of purported samples of the product, which were examined by the California Health Department to determine whether the materials were safe for human consumption. An inspector reportedly responded to the site and reported that he had mailed samples of the height-boosting drink to the NALA offices, and that he was still examining them. On the Internet, several blogs have described how Penzo’s products supposedly worked, including testimonials from “real” customers who said that they had received letters from NALA confirming that they were real. There is no evidence, therefore, that Paola Penzo has engaged in any activities that would cast him in a negative light.
