It is interesting to note that there is a Dominican National Congress in Paola Nuez, Dominican Republic every December. The Congress is held every December, since the year 2021. It is held every December since then and it is always attended by the President of Dominican Republic. The reason why this event is held is that this area has been the center for a very dirty war that has been going on between the Dominican Republic government and the rebellious groups in the area. These groups were not only causing misery and death to the people living in Paola Nuez, but also at the same time they have been stealing food and other goods from the people in order to survive.
In order to prevent this from happening in the future, the Dominican Republic government introduced a law in 2021, which allows its citizens a way to change their nationality if they get married outside of the country. However, the law doesn’t say that a Dominican National can change their nationality just because they get married outside of Dominican Republic. What the law says is that people who get married outside of the country can acquire another nationality by getting the process of naturalization. This means that if you are already a national of Dominican Republic but got married outside of the country, you can apply for citizenship and stay in the Dominican Republic as your new name is recognized. It is important to note that after attaining citizenship in the Dominican Republic, you can still visit your family or any other nationalities in the world if you want.
Another interesting part of this law is that marriages outside the Dominican Republic can be recognized internationally. You can apply for citizenship and change your nationality to another nationality like the United States, Canada or even Europe. However, if your marriage is organized outside of Dominican Republic, you cannot get the same benefits that you can get from marrying a national of Dominican Republic. It is a good thing to know that you have options to keep yourself safe and legal at all times while you’re in a foreign land.
