The question many black women have is what’s up with black women hair cuts? Why aren’t we seeing more of them in the media, especially during Fashion week and the many Fashion weeks there are? Could it be that we don’t read enough black fashion magazines or watch enough black related television shows? Well, I believe it might be a combination of all three.
It seems as if the media and fashion industries are less willing to publish pictures of black women with “raccoon” hairstyles than they are to publish pictures of black women in biker boots and baseball caps. That’s probably because black people are not as comfortable in wearing those styles as they are in sporting them. Black hair is usually seen as unruly, even disgusting. The fact that most hair is short or spiky only adds to that image.
So black woman hair styles are not commonly seen because most black women are not comfortable in those styles. If you are looking for a new hairstyle for yourself or for a friend who is black like you, make sure you check out hair pictures before you try it on. Let your friends know that you’re trying something new. Have them help you choose the style for you. Having help will make it easier for you to find the right black woman hair cut for you.
