Fashion of the 1950s is generally thought to be unfashionable, yet the truth is that the 50s fashion trends were quite forward looking and even daring for the time. Women of that time weren’t afraid to show off their legs and arms as they were often covered up with pants or skirts which were cut higher than the knee or had cartoon prints sewn into them. The height of the hemline was a very distinctive six inches at hip level and there was a lot of movement in the skirt area. Men also dressed in an edgier manner with cutoffs, jeans, and jackets in bright colors.

The fiftys fashion trends also included denim and other fabrics that were favored during that time. Denim remained popular in the 1950s and was seen commonly worn by men as well as women. Sportswear was also extremely popular and women enjoyed looking stylish while covering up their bodies with various pieces of clothing. Since the height of the 1960s fashion style for women took a turn for the worse. Tight fitting clothing and low necklines for women resulted in them looking older than they actually were.

Thankfully the 50s fashion trends have started to change with the passage of time and designers are working to make designer female clothing for the fairer sex. The days of pin up girl outfits are long gone and designers are working hard to come up with new and interesting fashions for the female population. Bright colors and more feminine designs are making their way into the mainstream and this is making the styles more appealing to the female population. With the right clothing you can still look young, attractive, and confident whether you’re wearing your favorite sportswear or your favorite pair of jeans. Remember, it’s all about the fit and whether or not it’s going to flatter your body type and figure.
