Jack Andrade of the Golden Boy Promotions said the show was delayed “because of a power outage.”

When the show resumed, “that’s when everybody started screaming and jumping up and down,” said Joe Calzaghe, owner of Lucha Libre Wrestling in Orlando. He says this is the fifth time an event with Lucha Libre has been canceled since 2004.

Calzaghe says this show was supposed to open at 7 p.m.

Kazarian was one of the founders of Lucha Libre. He used to work with another promotion, Lucha Underground. Kizaryal, 41, says the shows are usually very different than the WWF’s.

“There’s a lot more color in it this time. There’s a lot more drama this time,” he said. “It’s more intense.”

When the WWE announced plans to produce its own Lucha Libre promotion in July, many were skeptical. And in August, John Cena and Daniel Bryan attended the Orlando event. The two stars talked about the future of Lucha Libre.

“We’re thinking about it a lot,” Cena said. “We’re gonna have to think about it.”

Cena called it “kind of a cool idea”.

Calzaghe says WWE will need to rethink its plan to produce its own Lucha Libre show because the company may struggle in this country with wrestling fans saying the company doesn’t have the right type of entertainment. (WWE did not respond to FOX Sports’ request for comment.)

Calzaghe and Kizaryal believe the WWE’s plan will not only fail, it may even lead to even bigger problems for the company’s image.

“It’s a problem for sure,” Calzaghe said. “People don’t understand the real reason why we’re doing these shows. And the first time it will be their fault. We have a lot of things to worry about. We have a lot to worry about from a consumer perspective.

“It will be a big mistake to do this show.”
